Welcome to the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines

The Australasian Health Facility Guidelines (AusHFG) are an initiative of the Australasian Health Infrastructure Alliance (AHIA) (formerly HCAMC).  The AusHFG enables health facilities throughout Australasia to use a common set of base elements as a guide and offers significant benefits including:

• Australasian best practice approach to health facility planning

• standard spatial components

• a highly flexible planning tool responsive to the dynamic changes in Health.

For quick access to the Guidelines Index page, click on "Guidelines" on the navigation bar to the left or the symbol below.

The Guidelines are available for viewing and free download through this web site. Users may download the entire Guidelines in one large PDF file, or select only the relevant parts and associated components.

Process for Guidelines Development

The Australasian Health Facility Guidelines are developed using a process that:

• reviews existing guidelines and technical standards from Australia and overseas;

• researches and considers evolving trends in the delivery of care, emerging technologies and changing government policies;

• references research based evidence developed within the Australasian region, UK, USA, Europe and other countries that CHAA collates in regularly issued reports on emerging trends that affect health facility design (click here for the latest report) and in useful lists of references that impact on guideline development and on health facility design (click here for references).
